First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study tests a new type of nerve block (SPSIPB) to see if it can reduce pain and the need for strong painkillers after heart surgery. About 120 adults having planned heart surgery through a chest incision will be randomly assigned to get either the nerve block or standard care. The main goal is to measure how much fentanyl (a strong opioid) they need after surgery.
