Could common painkillers prevent Post-Surgery confusion in seniors?

NCT ID NCT05834569

Summary

This study tested whether giving a combination of two common pain medicines (acetaminophen and ibuprofen) during and after surgery could reduce confusion and delirium in older adults having minimally invasive lung surgery. Researchers compared the medicine to a placebo (saltwater) in a small group of patients. The trial was terminated early, and its main goal was to see if this approach lowered the risk or severity of post-surgery confusion.
