New study tests IV lidocaine for better hernia surgery recovery

Summary

This study tests whether giving IV lidocaine during paraesophageal hernia surgery can improve pain control and recovery compared to standard care. About 50 adults undergoing elective laparoscopic repair will be randomly assigned to receive lidocaine or a placebo. Researchers will measure pain scores, morphine use, length of hospital stay, and return of bowel function.
