First seen Jan 28, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study tested two different drug mixtures (ropivacaine plus dexamethasone vs. ropivacaine plus dexmedetomidine) given as a nerve block during stoma reversal surgery to see which provides better pain control afterward. 86 adults having abdominal surgery took part. The goal was to find a way to reduce pain and the need for strong opioid painkillers, which can have side effects like nausea and dependence.
