First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 33 times

Summary

This study compared two standard pain relief methods after colon or rectal surgery: continuous preperitoneal analgesia (using a catheter placed near the surgical site) and continuous epidural analgesia (a catheter placed near the spine). 98 adults having elective colon or rectal surgery took part. The goal was to see if the two methods provide similar pain control, measured by pain scores and the need for extra pain medication.
