Timing of pain block could cut opioid use in prostate surgery

NCT ID NCT07433140

Summary

This study aims to see if giving a local anesthetic block to the abdominal wall before surgery starts is better at reducing the need for strong opioid painkillers during the operation, compared to giving the same block after surgery ends. It will involve 50 adults having robotic surgery for prostate conditions. The main goal is to find the best timing for this pain control method to potentially lower opioid use and related side effects.
