New nerve block tested to ease pain after teen ear surgery

Summary
This study is testing whether a specific numbing injection, given during surgery, can help control pain afterward in teenagers having ear reconstruction. Participants, aged 13 to 18, will be randomly chosen to receive either the numbing block or no block. The main goal is to see if the block reduces the total amount of strong pain medicine (opioids) needed in the first 24 hours after surgery.
