New injection could ease pain for kidney donors, cut opioid need

NCT ID NCT07396753

Summary

This study is testing if a targeted numbing injection, given during surgery, can better control pain and reduce the need for strong opioid painkillers after kidney donation. Fifty people donating a kidney will be randomly assigned to receive either the standard anesthesia or the standard plus this special injection. Researchers will then compare their pain levels and how much opioid medication they use in the first day after surgery.
