First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compares two types of nerve blocks—M-TAPA and rectus sheath block—for controlling pain after abdominal surgery with a midline cut. Sixty adults will receive one of the two blocks using the same numbing medicine. Researchers will track pain scores and how much extra painkiller is needed.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
bupivacaine
What this could lead to
If one block works better, it could improve pain control after abdominal surgery and reduce the need for extra painkillers.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 60 participants. The results may not apply to all surgeries or patients, and individual responses to nerve blocks vary.
