First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study compared two ultrasound-guided nerve blocks—the erector spinae plane block and the quadratus lumborum block—for pain control after laparoscopic kidney removal. Sixty-two adults scheduled for living donor nephrectomy were randomly assigned to receive one of the two blocks. The main goal was to see which block reduced the need for opioid pain medication in the first 24 hours after surgery.
