New study aims to cut opioid use after back surgery with targeted nerve blocks
NCT ID NCT06851533
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jul 28, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study compares two types of nerve blocks (TLIP and Quadro Iliac) to see which one better reduces pain and the need for strong painkillers after lumbar microdiscectomy surgery for herniated discs. About 90 adults having this back surgery will receive one of the two blocks before surgery. The main goal is to measure how much pain medication they need in the first 24 hours after surgery, and also track pain scores and side effects.
