New pain block combo may help heart surgery patients recover faster
NCT ID NCT07522229
First seen Apr 21, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study tested two different numbing injections after heart surgery to see which one controls pain better. 72 adults having planned heart surgery were split into two groups: one got a standard chest-wall block, and the other got that block plus an extra block on the side where a chest tube was placed. Researchers measured pain levels, how soon patients could breathe on their own, and how quickly they could get out of bed.
