Nerve-Zapping procedure tested for deadly lung pressure disease

NCT ID NCT03282266

Summary

This study tested whether a procedure called pulmonary artery denervation (PADN), which disrupts nerves around the lung artery, could help people with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). 128 adults with PAH were randomly assigned to receive either the real PADN procedure plus standard medication or a sham (fake) procedure plus the same medication. The main goal was to see if the real procedure improved how far patients could walk in 6 minutes after 6 months and to check its safety.
