First seen Apr 25, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study looked at whether adding ozone therapy to standard gum surgery (open flap debridement) improves outcomes for people with stage III periodontitis, a serious gum infection. Twenty-four adults each had one side of their mouth treated with surgery plus ozone and the other side with surgery alone. Researchers measured gum pocket depth and attachment levels at 6 and 12 months to see if ozone provided extra benefit.
