First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study looked at whether oxytocin, a natural hormone, can improve how the pancreas releases glucagon during low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) in people with type 1 diabetes. Sixteen adults with type 1 diabetes took part. Researchers measured glucagon levels after giving oxytocin or a placebo during controlled low blood sugar. The goal was to see if oxytocin could help restore a key defense against dangerously low blood sugar.
