First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study is testing whether giving patients more oxygen (80%) during major surgery reduces wound infections compared to lower oxygen levels (30% or 50%). It will enroll 7,800 adults having planned surgeries lasting at least 2 hours. The goal is to see if extra oxygen helps people recover faster and spend more time at home after surgery.
