Breathing pure oxygen could calm dangerous gut flares

NCT ID NCT05987852

Summary

This study is testing whether breathing pure oxygen in a pressurized chamber helps people hospitalized with severe ulcerative colitis flare-ups. Researchers want to see if this therapy can quickly reduce symptoms like bleeding and diarrhea, and help patients avoid needing stronger medications or surgery. The trial will involve 126 participants and compare the oxygen treatment to a sham (fake) procedure.
