Breathing easier after surgery: heated oxygen vs. standard care
NCT ID NCT05362526
Summary
This study tested if a special heated and humidified oxygen therapy could better prevent lung complications in patients recovering from major head and neck surgery, compared to standard oxygen therapy. It involved 56 patients who had surgery requiring a temporary breathing tube (tracheostomy). Researchers randomly assigned patients to one of the two oxygen treatments and then tracked who developed lung problems like pneumonia or collapsed lung areas.
