Oximeter showdown: which device gives the best oxygen flow for lung patients?
NCT ID NCT05819164
First seen Mar 19, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study looked at how different oxygen level goals and types of oximeters (the clip-on finger device that measures oxygen in the blood) affect the amount of oxygen given to patients with lung diseases like COPD and pneumonia. Researchers tested 40 adults on oxygen therapy to see if changing the target oxygen level or using a different oximeter changed how much oxygen flow was needed. The goal was to learn how to better manage oxygen therapy for these patients.
