First seen May 02, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study looked at how breathing air with more or less oxygen than normal during short, intense exercise (Tabata intervals) changes fitness. Twenty-three healthy men did 3 weeks of cycling workouts while breathing either high-oxygen or low-oxygen air. The goal was to see how oxygen levels affect aerobic capacity, heart rate, and blood lactate. Results help us understand how the body adapts to exercise under different oxygen conditions.
