Breathing breakthrough: study tests safer oxygen for premature babies

NCT ID NCT07315594

Summary

This study aims to find the safest amount of oxygen to give to babies born 6-8 weeks early (32-35 weeks) right after birth. Researchers will compare giving 60% oxygen versus 30% oxygen to see which helps babies breathe better and need less breathing support in their first hour. The trial will involve over 1,500 babies across Alberta hospitals to determine the best approach for these vulnerable newborns.
