Could less oxygen after surgery actually help patients breathe better?

NCT ID NCT07293286

Summary

This study aims to find out if using a lower concentration of oxygen (30%) just before removing a patient's breathing tube after abdominal surgery leads to fewer breathing problems compared to the standard practice of using pure oxygen (100%). It will involve 590 adults undergoing planned abdominal surgery. The main goal is to see which approach better prevents low oxygen levels in the blood after the breathing tube is removed.
