New implant could speed up ACL rehab, study hopes

NCT ID NCT06974526

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a small implant that releases a muscle-building drug (oxandrolone) can help people recover faster after ACL knee surgery. About 96 adults aged 18 to 60 who had ACL reconstruction will receive either the implant or a placebo for 24 weeks. The goal is to see if the implant is safe and helps improve muscle strength and function during rehabilitation.
