Sniffing out migraines: smell sensitivity may be key clue
NCT ID NCT07329127
First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This study looked at whether a strong sensitivity to smells (called osmophobia) can help tell the difference between migraine and tension-type headaches. Over 200 adults with either condition tracked their headaches and smell reactions for six months. The goal was to see if osmophobia is a reliable sign of migraine, which could lead to faster and more accurate diagnoses.
