Summary
This study took small tissue samples from 16 people with and without inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) during routine colonoscopies. Researchers grew these samples into mini-organs called organoids in the lab. The goal was to see if they could reliably create these organoids and then use them to test how radiation and potential treatments affect the gut. This is a first step toward developing better therapies for IBD and radiation injury.
