New combo aims to spare surgery for certain cancer patients
NCT ID NCT06580574
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This phase 2 trial is testing whether a combination of immunotherapy drugs (sintilimab, IBI310, and lenvatinib) can help people with non-metastatic dMMR/MSI-H stomach or colon cancers avoid radical surgery. About 34 participants will receive up to 24 weeks of treatment, and those who achieve a complete clinical response may skip surgery. The goal is to preserve the organ while still controlling the cancer.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Sintilimab, IBI310, and Lenvatinib
What this could lead to
If successful, this could allow some patients with these specific cancers to avoid major surgery by using immunotherapy to eliminate the tumor.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase trial with only 34 participants, so results may not apply broadly. Immunotherapy can cause serious side effects, and not all patients will respond.
