Pill vs. needle: can oral iron match IV treatment before surgery?

NCT ID NCT07287371

Summary

This study compares two ways to treat anemia before heart surgery: taking oral iron capsules at home versus receiving standard intravenous iron injections at the hospital. Researchers want to see if the oral treatment works as well as the IV treatment at increasing red blood cell counts before surgery. The study will involve 75 adults with iron deficiency anemia who are scheduled for elective heart procedures.
