Direct relief for Kids' chemo pain: gel targets mouth sores

NCT ID NCT02173756

Summary

This study tested a morphine gel applied directly to painful mouth sores (mucositis) caused by chemotherapy in children and young adults with cancer. The goal was to see if applying pain medicine right where it hurts is more effective than standard painkillers given through an IV. Researchers hoped this would better control pain, help patients eat, and reduce the need for stronger systemic pain medications.
