NIH launches major study to unlock mysteries of Transplant-Related mouth disease

NCT ID NCT03602599

Summary

This study aims to better understand mouth problems that can develop after a stem cell transplant from a donor, a condition called chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD). Researchers will follow 500 adults—including both recent transplant patients and healthy volunteers—for up to 3 years, collecting samples and tracking changes in the mouth. The goal is to learn how this disease develops to improve future diagnosis, dental care, and treatment options.
