New pill trial aims to tame Early-Stage blood cancer

Summary

This study is testing whether a pill called oral azacitidine can help control a type of early-stage blood cancer called myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). About 230 people with low or intermediate-risk MDS will take either the pill or a placebo, along with standard supportive care. The main goals are to see if the pill is safe and if it can improve blood counts and reduce the need for blood transfusions.
