New nerve block technique aims to protect breathing in elderly shoulder surgery patients
NCT ID NCT07612514
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jul 10, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tests a new combination of nerve blocks for elderly patients (65 and older) having surgery for a broken shoulder. The goal is to see if the new approach provides better pain relief during surgery and lowers the risk of temporary diaphragm paralysis, which can cause breathing problems. About 356 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the new or standard nerve block technique.
