Timing matters: study seeks to improve preterm birth detection

NCT ID NCT06822647

First seen Mar 14, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study looks at when during a pregnancy ultrasound it is best to measure the cervix (the lower part of the womb) to better predict preterm birth. About 550 pregnant women will be randomly assigned to have the measurement at the start or end of their routine anatomy scan. The goal is to see which timing gives the most accurate results, helping doctors identify at-risk pregnancies more reliably.
