First seen Jan 23, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study tests two ways to program implantable defibrillators (ICDs) to stop fast, dangerous heartbeats. About 4,000 people with heart disease who need an ICD will be assigned to one of two pacing patterns—burst or ramp—to see which works better. The goal is to improve how well the device stops abnormal rhythms without needing a shock.
