Cash rewards vs. mindfulness: which helps opioid patients stay on treatment?
NCT ID NCT04464421
Summary
This small pilot study tested two different counseling approaches to help people with opioid addiction stick with their medication treatment. 48 patients starting treatment were randomly assigned to either receive gift card rewards for taking their medication or participate in mindfulness and goal-setting sessions. Researchers wanted to see which approach better helped patients attend appointments and show medication in their urine tests.
