Can a standard pain pill prescription reduce opioid waste after surgery?

NCT ID NCT04044820

Summary

This study aims to see if using a standard, evidence-based prescription for pain pills after hand or forearm surgery can reduce the number of leftover opioid pills in the community while still providing good pain relief. Researchers will compare this standard prescription to the usual way doctors prescribe. About 292 patients having elective hand surgery will participate and be followed for 12 weeks after their procedure.
