New pill bottle aims to curb opioid overuse after surgery
NCT ID NCT04598074
First seen Sep 30, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 30 times
Summary
This study tests a specially designed opioid package (called OPP) to see if it helps doctors prescribe fewer pills and patients use them more safely after orthopedic surgery. About 352 adults will receive their pain medication in either the new package or a standard bottle. Researchers will track how many pills are prescribed and used, and how long it takes pharmacists to fill them.
