New anesthesia approach aims to reduce opioid use in nasal surgeries
NCT ID NCT07350668
First seen Jan 21, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 15 times
Summary
This study tested whether using a combination of dexmedetomidine and lignocaine (opioid-free anesthesia) works as well as fentanyl (opioid-based anesthesia) for pain control during nasal surgeries. Sixty adults undergoing procedures like sinus surgery or septoplasty were split into two groups to compare pain scores, side effects like nausea, and recovery. The goal is to find a safer alternative that reduces opioid-related complications.
