New anesthesia approach aims to reduce opioid use in nasal surgeries
NCT ID NCT07350668
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether using a combination of dexmedetomidine and lignocaine (opioid-free anesthesia) could control pain as well as standard fentanyl (opioid-based anesthesia) in 60 adults undergoing nasal surgeries like sinus surgery or septoplasty. The goal was to see if the opioid-free method reduces side effects like nausea and vomiting while still keeping patients comfortable during and after surgery. Results will help doctors choose safer anesthesia options.
