Summary

This study tested whether using no opioids during weight-loss surgery (opioid-free anesthesia) works as well as standard opioid-based anesthesia for controlling pain afterward. Sixty adults with severe obesity having laparoscopic bariatric surgery were randomly assigned to one of two groups. Researchers measured pain levels, need for extra pain medicine, nausea, and patient satisfaction to see if the opioid-free approach is a safe and effective option.
