Can surgery patients recover without opioids? new study investigates

NCT ID NCT07265557

Summary

This pilot study is testing whether patients can manage pain after major orthopedic surgery without opioid painkillers. Researchers will compare two groups: one receiving opioid-free pain medication at discharge and another receiving usual care that includes opioids. The study aims to see if a larger trial is feasible and will measure pain levels and opioid use at 2 and 6 weeks after surgery.
