Could a simple injection slash opioid use after nose jobs?
NCT ID NCT06989866
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a numbing medicine called bupivacaine, injected after nose surgery, can reduce the need for strong opioid pain pills. Fifty adults having septorhinoplasty will receive either the numbing injection or a placebo. Researchers will count how many opioid pills they use and track their pain levels for a week.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Bupivacaine (a numbing medicine injected after surgery)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could offer a way to control pain after nose surgery with fewer opioid pills, reducing the risk of dependence.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-phase trial with only 50 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The numbing effect may not be strong enough to replace opioids for all patients.
