Facebook friends fight opioid crisis: can online groups get people into treatment?

NCT ID NCT04712981

Summary

This study is testing whether a private, peer-led Facebook group can encourage more people with opioid addiction to ask for and start medication treatment. About 640 adults with moderate-to-severe opioid use disorder who are not currently on medication will be randomly placed into either a group with trained peer leaders or a regular group. Researchers will track how many people request treatment information or help scheduling a doctor's appointment over a year.
