Summary
This study tests an online self-help tool called e-couch for adults with social anxiety. Over 5 weeks, 200 participants will use the program, which is based on cognitive behavioral therapy. Researchers will use surveys and computer tasks to predict who improves the most.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
internet-delivered self-help tool based on cognitive behavioral therapy
What this could lead to
If successful, this could help identify which people with social anxiety benefit most from online self-help, making treatment more personalized and accessible.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with no control group, so results may not apply to everyone. The self-help tool may not work for those with severe symptoms.
