Lung cancer treatment slashed from weeks to hours in new study
NCT ID NCT06236516
First seen May 07, 2026 · Last updated May 07, 2026
Summary
This study tested a new, faster way to deliver radiation therapy for small lung tumors. Instead of the usual process taking two to three weeks with multiple visits, the goal was to complete everything—from planning to treatment—in a single day, in about two to three hours. Ten patients with early-stage lung cancer or limited lung metastases participated. The approach used advanced imaging and adaptive radiation to tailor the treatment on the spot, aiming to make care more accessible for people who live far from treatment centers.
