This phase II trial tests whether combining two hormone-blocking drugs — onapristone and anastrozole — can shrink tumors or slow cancer growth in women with hormone-receptor-positive endometrial cancer that has not responded to prior chemotherapy. Onapristone blocks progesterone from fueling cancer cells, while anastrozole lowers estrogen production. The study enrolls women aged 18 and older whose cancer still expresses hormone receptors and who have failed one prior platinum/taxane chemotherapy regimen.
