Helicopter medics bring operating room to cardiac arrest victims
NCT ID NCT04620070
Summary
This study tested if starting a portable heart-lung machine (ECPR) immediately at the scene of a cardiac arrest, rather than waiting until the hospital, could save more lives. It involved 221 adults under 50 who did not respond to standard CPR for 20-45 minutes. The goal was to see if getting blood flowing faster with this machine led to better survival with less brain damage.
