Fish oil pills aim to stop Post-Surgery confusion in seniors

NCT ID NCT06434948

Summary

This study is testing whether giving omega-3 fatty acid supplements before and after major heart surgery can help prevent postoperative delirium, a common and serious state of confusion, in patients aged 65 and older. Researchers will give 90 participants either 0, 2, or 4 grams of omega-3 pills to see which dose, if any, reduces the risk. The goal is to find a simple, safe way to protect older patients' mental clarity during recovery.
