Can an allergy drug calm COPD? new trial seeks answers

Summary
This study tests whether omalizumab, an allergy drug, can reduce serious lung flare-ups in people with COPD who also have allergies. About 334 adults over age 40 with a history of smoking and COPD will receive the drug or a placebo for 12 months. The goal is to see if the drug lowers the number of COPD attacks that need steroids or hospital care.
