New combo aims to stop leukemia from coming back
NCT ID NCT07304011
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This phase 2 trial tests whether giving olutasidenib with azacitidine, followed by olutasidenib alone as maintenance, can keep acute myeloid leukemia (AML) with an IDH1 mutation from returning. The study enrolls 28 adults who have already achieved remission after initial treatment. The goal is to see how many patients remain cancer-free at one year.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Olutasidenib and azacitidine
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer a new maintenance option to help prevent relapse in people with IDH1-mutated AML who have already responded to initial treatment.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase trial (28 people) with no control group, so results may not apply broadly. Side effects from the drugs are possible, and the treatment may not prevent relapse.
