NCT ID NCT07581405

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether a low dose of olanzapine, a drug often used for nausea, can help gastric cancer patients avoid weight loss and keep their appetite during chemotherapy before surgery. About 26 adults with stomach cancer will be randomly assigned to receive olanzapine or standard care alone. The goal is to see if olanzapine improves nutrition and quality of life during treatment.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Olanzapine

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a simple way to help gastric cancer patients keep their weight and appetite up during chemotherapy.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-phase trial with only 26 people, so results may not apply widely. Olanzapine can cause side effects like drowsiness or increased blood sugar.
