Cancer pain pill may also fight opioid addiction risk

NCT ID NCT06200181

Summary

This study is testing if a medication called olanzapine can help reduce cravings for opioid painkillers in cancer patients. It will involve 87 adults with cancer pain who are already taking opioids and are showing signs of potential misuse. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either olanzapine or a placebo (inactive pill) to see which one better controls cravings and misuse behaviors.
